Services supporting the war effort

During the war years, Arthur Gray and Larry Watts were seconded to assist the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) with the design of defence installations. This included the design and construction of gun emplacements on Waiheke Island (known as Stony Batter) in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and Moturoa Island in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand.
