New uses for concrete at 246 Queen Street

Designed by architects Rigby-Mullan, 246 Queen Street, Auckland was built by Sir Robert Kerridge and opened in July 1964. The building used concrete shear walls for lateral support, a technique which demonstrated the economical use of concrete for large buildings. Gray Watts & Beca were the engineering consultants and responsible for the engineering design and construction supervision.
