Project Tane: a major expansion of capacity

The 1970s include Project Tane – a major sulphate pulp and newsprint expansion project which greatly increased the capacity of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Mill at Kawerau, New Zealand. Pulp was increased from 105,000 to 160,000 tons per annum and newsprint from 130,000 to 340,000 tons per annum. This project directly led to an increase in both capabilities and staff numbers for BCHF.
