Design of Shell Gully Bridge, Wellington

BCHF was responsible for the design and construction supervision of the Shell Gully bridge, located immediately north of the Terrace Tunnel on the Wellington Urban Motorway. This bridge was one of the first bridges that incorporated capacity. It comprised twin continuous post-tensioned spine beams constructed integral with piers. The piers were twin column portal frames, with each column founded on a single cylinder foundation socketed into bedrock.
