Introduction of computers

Around 1982, BCHF purchased their first five computers at a cost of approximately $50,000 each. It would be around ten years before a quarter of BCHF people would have a computer, with the first information communication and technology (ICT) support person joining in 1995, when a general dial-up machine came with a dedicated link to the Internet.

In 1997 the practice started using @beca.co.nz email addresses, however it wasn’t widely used as most other companies weren’t fully connected to the Internet.
