Supporting the expansion of NZ Steel Ltd

The expansion of NZ Steel’s hot and cold rolling mills was one of the largest heavy industrial projects undertaken in New Zealand at the time with a capital value of NZ$650 million. Completed in 1988, BCHF provided the detailed design for many components of this expansion, which increased production capacity from 150,000 to 750,000 tonne per year and installed hot and cold rolling mills to develop a fully integrated steel mill. Much of this work was civil and structural design, with some electrical design.
