1989
A new division is launched: Beca Steven

In February 1989, Steven Fitzmaurice and Partners merged with BCHF to form a nation wide water business, under the brand Beca Steven. This was one of only a handful of merger and acquisitions that Beca has ever undertaken. The merger enhanced BCHF’s capability in public health and environmental engineering and created an office in Christchurch.

In time Beca Steven would win multiple awards, including ACENZ’s Award of Merit for the design of the Palmerston North Sewage Treatment Plant and an Engineering Excellence Award for the design of the City of Hamilton Water Pollution Control Plant.
